Today is the Day When You Must Prepare Baklava

Hey friends, how are you? I hope that most of you are using vacation now during the summer period and these hot days. but what can be during the summer period unless cooking at home and preparing nice food for our family? Today we have a special baklava recipe for you and hope you will try to prepare this in your kitchen place and making happy your family!

To be honest, I was thinking in my head, in my language Macedonian, we call it baklava but how would be in English. Finally to understand that the word is the same in the English language and to find out that people in England also make this in their kitchen place. The world is small dear friends!

The ingredients to prepare this recipe are the following:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 (16-ounce) package phyllo dough (thawed)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted pistachio nuts (finely chopped)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

We all have these ingredients at home, but if you don’t have it, go buy it and start with preparation.

  1. the very first step is to preheat oven to 350 F. Butter a 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in

  2. The second step is in a bowl, combine pistachio nuts and butter.

  3. Now you have to take eight sheets of phyllo dough and layer them in the pan, spreading each sheet with melted butter. Spread about half of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough and cover with a buttered sheet of phyllo dough.

  4. What to do next? Layer five more sheets of phyllo dough, buttering each sheet. Add remaining nut mixture and layer with remaining sheets of phyllo dough, buttering each sheet.

  5. The last step is to use a knife, cut the baklava into 1 1/2-inch diamonds or you can cut and make other shapes if you wish to.

  6. Now, the sixth step is to bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown or if you wish even more.

  7. About 30 minutes before Baklava is finished, add and mix sugar, honey, cinnamon, and lemon juice ( some people don’t add lemons) for glaze in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, making sure that the sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce heat and allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.

  8. When Baklava is finished cooking, drizzle syrup over top and let cool. You can eat the baklava even for seven days and enjoying the taste.
